28mm Classical Greeks: Peltasts and Psiloi

The Commands and Colors rules for "auxilia" seem written with classical peltasts in mind. These troops can fight as close-order infantry or skirmish with javelins.

I used the same figures for the Greek psiloi, or light foot

I was hoping to be done with the Greek army before June 1st, and I will definitely make that goal. I only have four cavalry units left to paint!

28mm Classical Greeks: Hoplites

I had already painted enough Crusader Miniatures hoplites to field most of a Greek army for Commands and Colors. All I lacked was three heavy infantry bases.

These miniatures are all from Old Glory. The front rank is hoplites thrusting, and the rear rank is hoplites advancing. All shields are hand painted.

I also bought a pack of hoplite command to make up my general stands.

28mm Achaemenid Persians: More Chariots

When I placed my first order, I had not been sure that the scythed chariots would fit on 60mm frontage. They did, so I had to order a second set.

This is the final unit for my Commands and Colors Persian army.

28mm Achaemenid Persians: Horse Archers

The Persians get one unit of horse archers, probably drawn from the steppe tribes. I varied the colors quite a bit on these.

28mm Achaemenid Persians: Slingers

My Commands and Colors scenarios call for two units of Persian slingers, and here they are! The slingers get an extra hex of range over the standard light infantry.

I went for more drab colors on these troops. I'm not sold on the idea of slingers with shields, but that's how they came.

Yet More Chinese Pirates!

The latest commission is done! These 72 Chinese pirates are headed to their new owner tomorrow. All figures are Foundry.

I have enjoyed painting these colorful silks. All the fabrics have three tone shading, as does the flesh.
